Are you looking for your next creative inspiration? You won’t have to look far to find it. Some of the best sketching themes can be discovered right in your own home. Books, for example, can be an excellent subject for a sketch. Seems challenging? You’ll discover that learning how to sketch this subject is simple if you take it step by step.
This lesson will teach you how to draw a realistic book in only six stages, as well as how to use that knowledge to create a stack of volumes. To get started, all you’ll need are some basic drawing equipment like a pencil, eraser, pen, and paper. Collect some books you have laying around the home if you want your book to be even more accurate.
I used the following materials for this tutorial:
Draw it on paper, in a sketchbook, or in your bullet journal.
Pigma Micron Pens are my favorite drawing pens.
Pencil with lead
You will want this on an angle.
remembering the curves at the top.
Make sure they are different heights for interest and that you will be sharing one line for the spines of two books.
Do the same for the bottom of each book.
You can add shapes, lines, and even titles.
Drawing a book open looks a little more complicated but it is just as simple.
To symbolize pages, draw a few little lines at the bottom of the pages.
This is simply a huge rectangle placed behind the doodles you’ve already completed. To make it stand out, I prefer to darken the margins a little.
It’s just as simple to draw a book stack.
You want in your stack and draw an elongated U on its side starting at the bottom. Then repeat for as many books as you desire.
draw a little indented line at the top of each U.
three lines are required for the top book. The spine gets two from the U’s curvature, while the book cover gets one from the top. Draw the remaining spine lines after that.
Finally, it’s time to add ink to the drawing. So, gently trace over all of the pencil traces with your preferred pen. Then, after you’re certain that the ink has had enough time to dry, erase the graphite layer.
Congrats! You’ve mastered the art of book illustration. Scroll down to draw a stack of books to take this idea to the next level.
